Under $150, buy the iRobot Roomba 105 Vac. At around $149 it is the cheapest machine in the category with genuine LiDAR mapping, which means it cleans in systematic rows, remembers your floor plan and accepts app-drawn keep-out zones. Everything else in this band navigates by bumping into things.
This band sits exactly on the category's first real price cliff. At $149 you can buy a map. At $110 you cannot, and no amount of suction makes up for a machine that does not know where it has been.

Why the map is worth almost all of your budget here
A machine without a map covers a room by running a pattern until the battery dies. On a small hard-floor area that works acceptably - run it long enough and it gets most places. On anything with several rooms, furniture and a doorway, the coverage is genuinely poor, and the machine has no way of knowing it.
A machine with LiDAR builds a floor plan in the first run, then cleans in rows, tracks which rows it has done, returns to the exact spot after a recharge, and lets you draw a rectangle in an app that it will never enter. That last one sounds minor until you own a dog bowl, a cat litter tray or a nest of cables.
The trade-off is real: the Roomba 105 Vac publishes no suction figure at all, has no mop, and has no self-emptying dock. On paper the Lefant M310 beneath it looks stronger - 4,500Pa, 160 minutes, a bigger bin. In a real multi-room home, the mapped machine will clean more of your floor. That is the whole argument for this pick.
The specification iRobot will not give you
iRobot describes the 105 Vac as having '70x more power-lifting suction' - compared to its own 600 series, a machine line that dates back over a decade. That is not a specification. It is a comparison to a fifteen-year-old product, chosen by the company doing the comparing, and it cannot be checked against anything else on this page.
We score it as unverified rather than assumed good, which is why it takes a 6.0 on suction against the Lefant M310's 6.5 despite costing more. If specifications are how you shop, that omission should bother you, and the honest position is that the mapping is what you are buying here, not the cleaning power.
The quiet star of the cheap end: brushless inlets
Both Lefant machines in this band use a brushless suction port rather than a roller brush. There is no beater bar, no bristles, and therefore nothing for long hair to wrap around. If you have ever cut a solid sleeve of hair off a brushroll with scissors, you will understand why this is a feature and not a cost-cut.
It is a genuine trade. On hard floors, where dirt sits on the surface and suction does the work, a brushless inlet costs you nothing. On carpet, where the point of a brush is to agitate pile and lift embedded grit, it costs you a lot. That is why the Lefant machines score well on pet hair and poorly on the carpet pages, and why we would not recommend either to a carpeted home.
What $50 more would buy
A great deal, and this is the biggest jump on the price ladder. At under $200 you get LiDAR and a published suction figure in the same machine, a mop with a real water tank, and at the top of the band a self-emptying dock. If your budget can move $50, this is the place on the ladder where it buys the most.
Going the other way, under $100 is a smaller step down than this page is a step up. You lose the map either way; below $100 you mostly lose bin size and runtime.
