The Tapo RV20 Max Plus is the cheapest machine from any brand that combines LiDAR mapping with a self-emptying dock, at around $168. It publishes 5,300Pa in Ultra mode, a 3-liter bag rated for up to 60 days, a 3.27-inch body and a 0.87-inch threshold climb. It is the machine most responsible for that combination no longer costing $400.

What the specifications mean in a real home
LiDAR plus a dock, under $170. These are the two features worth paying for in this whole category, and this is the cheapest route to having both. If your budget is around $170 and you were choosing between features, this machine removes the choice.
3.27 inches tall. Slim for a machine carrying a LiDAR turret, which necessarily adds height. It will not clear what the 2.85-inch eufy clears, and it clears more than most mapping machines. As always, measure your lowest furniture first.
0.87-inch threshold climb. A real figure, published, and it clears most interior door saddles and rug edges. Only the Ecovacs N20 Plus's 20 mm beats it here.
Carpet boost plus carpet avoidance in mop mode, both automatic. That is the pair of behaviors that make a vacuum-and-mop machine usable in a home with rugs without you having to draw zones perfectly.
5,300Pa in Ultra mode. Tapo is explicit that this is the Ultra-mode figure rather than a running one, which is a more honest presentation than several rivals manage. It is a mid-range number and it is enough for hard floors and low pile.
The manufacturer figure to treat carefully
Tapo advertises over 97% dust pickup from its DeepVac system. There is no published test standard behind that number - no stated surface, no stated debris type, no stated method. It is a marketing figure rather than a specification, and we report it as one.
That is not an accusation of dishonesty; it is the norm in this category and Tapo is no worse than most. But a percentage with no method behind it cannot be compared to anything, and it should not carry weight in a purchase decision.
The bag question
The 3-liter bag lasts a published 60 days, which over three years is roughly 18 bags. The Ecovacs N20 Plus at around $215 has no bag at all, and over three years that difference in consumables is comfortably larger than the price gap between the two machines. Who should buy it
Anyone whose budget is around $170 who wants to stop thinking about the machine. It is the least expensive way to get the two features that actually change daily life.
Who should not
Anyone in a small flat, where the dock takes real floor space and the bin fills slowly enough that it is not earning its footprint - buy the dock-less RV20 Max instead. And anyone optimizing for running cost, who should look at the bagless docks.
